Since before time began, there was a God, who had existed forever. This God is a good Father with a Son whom he loves, adores and cherishes. God's son, Jesus Christ, loves his Father back perfectly and with utter devotion. The love that flows between them is selfless, others-focused, and willing to sacrifice itself for the one it loves. It is the most powerful force in the universe, and we call that love the Holy Spirit of God.
God has is so perfect and limitless and boundless in love, that he decided more people needed to share in his reality. So he created the entire universe, all the planets and stars, and this beautiful blue ball that we call home, just to be the frame around something more exquisite. That beautiful, exquisite thing is you. You were made in the image of God himself, so that you could experience his perfect, powerful, life-changing love yourself, and be able to give it away to others just like God has done.
Somewhere along the line, we humans got selfish and decided we'd try and live good lives without God. That didn't work out, and so the son of God, Jesus himself, came down to earth in a human body all of his own. He came down to show us once and for all that God loves us, and holds nothing against us.
God, you, and us
It's our experience that life is difficult, and people are not always kind, and the perfect love of God is hard to find in this world. But found it we have, in some small measure, and it's become our quest to discover more of God's love and to share with the world around us. Would you like to live in a love that surrounds you, and comforts you, and brings you peace, and sets you free from the darkness inside? God has been whispering to you your whole life. Every good and unselfish thing you have ever done has had his fingerprints all over it. Today he is inviting you to get to know him.
This is where some people get religious and make a 5-point plan (or worse). In our experience, getting to know God is as simple as telling him that you want to get to know him, and then letting your heart and your eyes be opened to see him all around you, and in you. You can learn all about how other people knew God by reading The Bible, and we definitely recommend you do that, but there's nothing like meeting other people who also know God, and learning about him together. That's why we invite you to find a group of others who know and love God, and journey with them. Most people call a group like that a church. We are one such church, and if you live near Kitchener/Waterloo, why not come and meet us one Sunday?
There'll be coffee!
